Tracking our TBMs

Cross River Rail’s twin tunnels are now fully excavated, with both of the project’s two massive Tunnel Boring Machines having completed their journey below the Brisbane River and CBD.

You can chart the journeys made by our two TBMs – Else and Merle – on the map below, as they tunnelled from Woolloongabba to Albert Street, before continuing to Roma Street and emerging at the project’s northern portal at Normanby.

Two roadheaders, that tunnelled south from Woolloongabba, have also completed their excavation having broken through into the Boggo Road station cavern.
